The Mindset Piece

What’s the lost puzzle piece in your journey to financial success? What’s keeping you from your thriving business dreams?

For many, it’s emotional wellness.

When I solved my mindfulness puzzle, my business path went from one with sharp twists and turns to smooth, straightforward, and crystal clear.

For any entrepreneur to truly be successful, managing your mindfulness needs to be a part of your strategy. It is the foundation. Without it, all your long nights, learned skillsets, expertise and hard work will fall short of reaching your true potential. You will likely find yourself in a viscous cycle, floundering and wondering why you can’t get traction.

I founded Online PR Pro, not just to teach small business owners how to do their own PR, but to also teach them how to achieve their business goals with a focus on their personal wellness and a sense of fulfillment + discovery every step of the way - to practice awareness throughout their journey. What I know for sure is: when it comes to success, mindset is everything.

My mission has always been to build connections between businesses and consumers through effective PR. What I know in my bones, through my own experience, is that it’s impossible to do that effectively without developing a higher understanding of how our experiences impact us. We can use our experiences to climb higher and be better, but you must have the awareness first. Awareness creates opportunity to find tools to use our mental blocks to our advantage. It’s why the first module in the PR course (THE PR PROPELLOR) I’m developing is all about Mindset. And giving you the tools you need to use your mindset.

This platform is here to help you tell the story of your Brand, but that includes exploring the story of YOU. You are a multi-dimensional person with a set of unique personal and professional experiences. All of that is in the fiber of the business you’ve created.

I’m here to help you uncover those jewels to achieve your business dreams + goals. I want to explore, dissect, share, listen and reflect with you on your journey to a game-changing brand.

Let’s take a closer look at this journey we are on, where we’ve come from and how to get where we want to go.

Let’s for a moment put a magnifying lens on our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to determine the impact they have on our lives. We often think about how our thoughts impact our personal lives, but too rarely do we connect the dots to how they are impacting our business growth.

Emotional wellness is everything. It is at the crux of a holistic approach to overall health and professional health.

Without emotional health, there is no hope for health in any other area whether physical, social or professional. They are inter-related; without one, the other can’t exist. Without this foundation, you can wave your business aspirations goodbye. So, what makes up emotional health? It is made up of mindfulness, mental health, and self-care. Let’s look at the importance of each of these 3 areas.

Mindfulness + Mindset

“You are the sky. Everything else is just weather” -
Pema Chodron

When dealing with life’s storms and limited visibility navigating business challenges, mindfulness is the antidote. It is the foundation on which emotional health is built and the elixir for our mental blocks + physical health issues.

To me, being mindful means being aware. It’s being alert to your intuition, your inner voice, and “signals” from your environment. It’s knowing when to practice gratitude instead of fear + worry. It’s knowing when to embrace your professional expertise and intuition and repel negative emotions. It’s recognizing when to let go, trust the universe, and be in the moment.

This awareness can help relieve stress, improve sleep, and enhance your relationships while boosting self-control, objectivity, creativity, patience, concentration + clarity. On a deeper level, it can strengthen your sixth sense. These are all ingredients that help you reach goals and put you at the helm of your thriving business.

Mindset improves our ability to relate to others and one's self with kindness, acceptance, and compassion.

I recognized within me, at a very young age, an ability to understand the mind + body connection on an intuitive level – I have inherently known the power of thoughts and energy since I can remember. As soon as I was old enough to understand, through books and teachings, that mindfulness was rooted in practice, I was sold. Behind every successful professional accomplishment were these ancient, tried and true concepts I’ve put into practice to get me there.

Throughout the years, I have experienced transformation in many ways. Self-discovery has changed my life for the better on a personal and professional level in countless ways. When I have strayed from these practices, my dreams + aspirations have strayed from me.

Fast-forward to parenthood, and there was a shift in paradigm for me.

Mental Health

“What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversation.”
- Glenn Close

For many of us, the combination of parenthood and entrepreneurship can put mindfulness and emotional wellness to the test. Because now, we are responsible not just for ourselves, but for the emotional wellness of our children, for whom we would do anything. And we are also responsible to our other non-human child - our business.

Striving for balance between the two is what sparked my second biggest journey – a deep dive into a better understanding of mental health. Especially with the added pressure of knowing our own wellness molds our children’s. I had to ask myself: Where are my fears and mental blocks coming from? Why are self-defeating thoughts and negative self-talk bubbling to the surface of my consciousness, instead of confidence, excitement, self-love, conviction and self-assuredness? Why all the self-sabotage?

Understanding your emotional challenges is the first step in learning about yourself, getting over your mental hurdles and growing your business.

Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act, and is responsible for how we handle stress, relate to others, and make decisions. It affects the quality of our lives.

Through mindfulness and self-care, our mental health can be nurtured.  Just as a small example, one of the blocks for me, day in and day out, is guilt. The guilt of wanting to achieve a life-long dream, which takes time away from my family. It takes daily work and effort for me (and has for years) to know wanting a professional life is not selfish but very much just one fabric in all the swatches that have been sewn together to make me who I am.

What I’ve come to see through a lot of internal work, is that my children are proud of the work they see me do. They are impressed by the level of commitment and hard work that goes into realizing my vision. I’ve come to realize I have been teaching them pivotal life lessons while busy growing my business. They are learning about hard work, commitment, passion, and the gratification that comes from realizing your dreams.

I’ve also learned that I’m not alone. This is one of the most common blocks that mom entrepreneurs experience.

There are countless other blocks that exist for many entrepreneurs. Maybe one of these blocks is putting limitations on the growth of YOUR business. From perfectionism to imposter syndrome, there is a long list of things that could be holding you back. But the good news is through mindfulness, mental health, and self-care, you can thrive personally AND professionally.

Self-care

“Self-care means giving yourself permission to pause”
– Cecilia Tran

Finally, let’s look at self-care. Learning about what self-care actually is, has been a life-changing, eye-opening experience. I used to think self-care was about bubble baths, facials, massages, and the latest beauty products. Don’t get me wrong, I love those things and they factor in as well, but I’ve learned we need to delve deeper with our self care practices to achieve the lasting impact of mindfulness. Otherwise, whatever insights we develop are short lived and fleeting.

Self-care is an extension of mindfulness. It’s about taking that extra step to engage in activities or practices to ensure a healthy mind and body.

For me, life changing results have come through practices like transcendental meditation, hypnotherapy, therapy, prayer, breathing exercises, visualizations, affirmations, and spending time in nature.

Through adequate self-care, I’ve improved my relationship with myself. As a result, both my business and my relationships with those I love have flourished. I have found that self-care provides the mental reset and recharge that can help give us clarity and insight into the work we do and transmit positivity to those with whom we interact.

On the journey towards financial fulfilment, business success, balance, authenticity, happiness, and true emotional wellness, let’s leave no stones unturned. Let’s share our experiences, learn from each other, and shine a light on all aspects of success, both entrepreneurial and emotional.
